A Bit About Me
A practicing physician for forty years, Dr. House earned his MD
at Indiana University School of Medicine.
Of his year of internship at L.A. County Hospital in 1971, he has this to say:
“It was intensely awful – and beautiful at the same time. My first night on duty, we
operated on twenty-one gunshot and knife wound victims – twenty survived.
Being on the front lines of urban violence was a painful and revealing experience,
but I learned that people are people, no matter what their circumstance, and I
loved helping them in their daily struggles with life on the edge.”
His various occupations have included:
Jailhouse physician, Los Angeles City Jail.
ENT – ear surgeon, Kaiser Permanente, Fontana, California.
Owner and chief baker, Plaza Bakery, Santa Cruz, California.
